SEPA

You may be aware that from the 1st February, 2014, new Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) guidelines are being introduced. SEPA is a payment-integration initiative from the E.U. for the simplification of bank transfers. The aim is to improve the efficiency of cross border Euro payments and will enable the making of cashless Euro payments to anyone located anywhere in the area.

You will need your BIC and IBAN when setting up certain new electronic payments

Your National Sort Code and account number will be replaced by an International Bank Account Number (IBAN) and Bank Identifier Code (BIC)

You can find your BIC and IBAN

How will SEPA impact your direct debits

  • You will need to use your BIC and IBAN when setting up any new direct debits
  • SEPA will introduce new rights which will give you more control over your direct debits.

Our Credit Union made the switchover for direct debit payments on Monday, 20th January. This will necessitate some changes to processes and timescales, particularly for first direct debits. All FIRST Direct Debits will now take 6 working days to process and subsequent ones, 3 working days.

YOU DO NOT NEED TO DO ANYTHING.

If you pay by direct debit, we will convert your sort code and account number automatically to the new IBAN and BIC. Do not hesitate to contact us if you have any queries.
